CRICKET - Worcestershire rename New Road ground

WORCESTERSHIRE have renamed their New Road ground which will now officially be known as Visit Worcestershire New Road.

The county are due to play their first County Championship fixture of the season at the ground this weekend after moving their first two home matches to Kidderminster due to flooding.

It is the second time in the last seven years the club have renamed the ground.

It was previously known as Blackfinch New Road from 2017 to 2020.

Worcestershire CCC CEO, Ashley Giles, said: “We are incredibly proud to partner with Visit Worcestershire in renaming our historic ground to ‘Visit Worcestershire New Road.’

“This collaboration is a perfect blend of sports and tourism, providing a unique platform to highlight what makes Worcestershire such a special place.




“We look forward to welcoming visitors from near and far to experience not only world-class cricket but also the charm and attractions of our county.”

The Pears host Nottinghamshire at New Road this weekend from Friday, May 24 to Monday, May 27.
