CENTURIES from openers Ed Pollock and Gareth Roderick helped Worcestershire to a comfortable 183-run victory against Middlesex in the Royal London One-Day Cup.
Pollock (180) and Roderick (115) put on a staggering 259 runs for Worcestershire’s first wicket at New Road while Rob Jones (44 not out) added some useful runs.
The Rapids eventually closed on 371-3 at the end of their 48 overs with Pollock and Roderick’s total the county’s highest first-wicket List A partnership against all opposition.
Pollock hit 26 boundaries (21 fours, five sixes) on his way to a mammoth total which came off just 138 deliveries while Roderick found the rope 15 times (10 fours, five sixes).
Roderick eventually fell to the bowling of Nathan Fernandes (2-79) who also accounted for Pollock.
The Rapids made an excellent start with the ball as One-Day Cup debutant Harry Darley (3-45) delivered a trio of early blows to restrict Middlesex to 41-3.
And Jack Home (3-54) also chipped in with three wickets to leave the visitors in trouble on 149-6.
Another three-wicket burst from Tommy Sturgess (3-37) brought an end to the Middlesex innings with the visitors bowled out for just 188 in 25.4 overs.
