WORCESTERSHIRE CCC have confirmed fast-bowler Ben Dwarshuis has left the club after he received an international call-up to the Australia squad.
Dwarshuis will form part of Australia’s white-ball squad for T20 fixtures against the West Indies.
The 31-year-old returned to the Rapids for a second spell with the club ahead of the 2025 T20 Blast competition.
He picked up 18 wickets which included best-figures of 3-30 against rivals Birmingham Bears in what proved his penultimate outing for the Rapids.
Dwarshuis also showed his prowess with the bat lower down the order and his performance caught the eye of the Australian selectors.
Dwarshuis said: “I remember chatting to Hosey [Adam Hose] over the winter about it and as soon as the chance came up, I was really keen to come back and be part of the club again.
“This time around I have enjoyed just as much as my first spell and playing with the boys and helping out with the push for the quarter-finals has been so enjoyable.
“Hopefully, the lads can put in one more big shift and see if it they can qualify, everyone has worked really hard over the group stage so it would be a nice reward to perhaps sneak through.
“Of course, I am very grateful for the opportunity to I have had here, but to play for Australia and represent my country is always a privilege, so that opportunity is very exciting.
“I wish the boys every success for the last game and the rest of the season and owe a massive thanks to all the players, staff and fans for making the last few-months so memorable.”
