INFLUENTIAL hooker Agustin Creevy has spoken of his ‘immense joy’ at being named captain of Argentina.
The 29-year-old, who has 28 international caps to his name, is now set to skipper his country at the forthcoming Rugby Championship, which will see Argentina take on New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.
As well as playing for the Pumas’ u20s side at the Junior World Championships in 2005 and 2006, the former Montpellier front row has represented the Jaguars and Pampas XV where he also served as captain.
But Creevy, who made 14 appearances for Worcester Warriors last season, admitted the appointment came as a surprise.
“The truth is that this is an immense joy,” Creevy said. “I did not expect this as there are many other players with important qualities.
“I receive it with great honour and I hope to keep guiding our players and staff to try and put the Pumas on top.”
