ARCHER Mel Clarke suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the final of the compound bow open at the European Para-Archery Championships in Switzerland at the weekend.
Welland based Clarke lost 135-134 to Sweden’s, Zandra Reppe, at the competition in Nottwil to claim silver.
There was further success for Clarke in the compound mixed team event as she paired up with John Stubbs to pick up a bronze medal for Great Britain.
The team were defeated by eventual gold medalists, Turkey, in the semi-final but then overcame Italy in the third-placed match.
