WORCESTER City kick off the 2022-23 season proper this weekend with a short trip to Malvern Town in the Emirates FA Cup.
Following a strong pre-season, City more than held their own in a string of ties against higher-ranked opposition, ending the schedule with three wins, three draws and just one defeat.
Last weekend, they drew 1-1 with Redditch United after Sean Brain netted the City equaliser, setting the squad up nicely for the season ahead.
In Saturday’s cup extra preliminary round tie, the Blue and Whites take on a Malvern team which has won three of its pre-season clashes and an ambition for success this season.
Speaking ahead of the kick off of their Hellenic League Premier Division campaign on Tuesday (August 2), Hillsiders co-manager Lee Hooper said: “The lads have worked hard throughout pre-season and now we want to hit the ground running with a positive start to the season.”
City start their Midland League Premier Division campaign at home to Market Drayton Town next Saturday (August 13)
