WORCESTER City manager Carl Heeley is set to stick with his philosophy of promoting a youthful side with unknown talents.
Towards the back end of the season the Blue and Whites were forced to field several inexperienced players, who proved they were up to the mark by putting in a string of solid performances.
This was a trend which continued as City finished their final day 3-0 win over Boston with only one outfield player over the age of 23, which is something Heeley is keen to build on.
“Last summer we had a huge knock back,” he said. “It was difficult to build on the previous summer because we had to just start again from scratch.
“We’re in a more stable position this summer than we were last summer and we want to be a club that starts benefiting from our work with getting unproven lads, if you like, and bringing them in.”
One of those players was stand-out full-back George Williams, who scooped both the Players’ Player and Player of the Year awards for the club.
Heeley added: “He’s done brilliantly well for us and deserves his accolades.
“For a lad whose stepped up so many divisions it’s a credit to him and my belief is he’s definitely got the capabilities to play higher.
“He can certainly play full-time football, without any question of a doubt, but we’ll see, you need that break sometimes. But he’s certainly got the ability there’s no question about that.”
