City prepare to face table toppers Barrow

WORCESTER City will look to secure back-to-back league wins for the first time this season when they travel to league leaders Barrow tomorrow (Saturday).

Carl Heeley’s men secured their first victory of the campaign with a 2-1 success over then table-toppers North Ferriby United, but Barrow’s 4-3 win at Solihull Moors saw saw the Cumbrians jump to 1st place.

Daniel Nti scored both goals in their triumph last Saturday, and will be looking to replicate that form today, with fellow strikers Nick Wright and Mike Symons also keen to add to their two and one goals respectively.

The Bluebirds will head into the game high in confidence, having won four of their last five and not tasting defeat since their opening day reverse at Boston United.

But the Blue and Whites, who have no fresh injury concerns going into the encounter, did the double over their Conference North rivals last season, with a 1-0 victory both home and away.

Tristan Dunkley will be pushing for a start after his game-changing cameo on Saturday, and Heeley admitted the pacey winger had done his chances “no harm” after winning one and assisting in the other penalty.

Ahead of the game Heeley said: “It’s another tough game but we went to Barrow last season and they’d won 14 or 15 games on the spin and we stopped that run.

“We beat them twice last season but from what I’ve read they’ve had some big investment there and signed some top plays so they will be strong contenders, but we’re not bad ourselves and we’ll certainly be a match for them.”
