A PHYSICAL presence looks set to be added to the Worcester City ranks after manager Carl Heeley admitted his team got bullied too many times in Sunday’s defeat to Gloucester City.
The Blue and Whites were beaten 2-0 at the temporary home of their arch-rivals thanks to a midfield battle which was largely won by the Whaddon Road outfit.
And City’s boss was keen to bulk up the muscle in his team and admitted a new signing could be imminent.
“I think there have been times in games when we have got bullied and that is the first thing we have to stop,” he said. “There will hopefully be a player joining in the next few days that will help in that department, that is for sure.
“It is easy to single players out but you single players out in the changing rooms and there are some that didn’t do enough on Sunday and haven’t done enough for a number of weeks now and that is something that needs resolving.”
Defeat was Worcester’s fourth in their last five games but Heeley did reserve some praise for a back four which was without Wayne Thomas, who was taking his UEFA A Licence, and Tyler Weir who is out for up to ten weeks with a broken foot.
“I thought as a back four they did quite well,” he added. “I thought the two centre halves (Jacob Rowe and Graham Hutchison) competed well, Shab (Khan) did ever so well and I thought Kyle Haynes had another solid game.
“Clearly our back four was our best unit on Sunday and there were some good individual performances within that unit but over the rest of the park I thought there were too many players who were way, way off the pace.”
Worcester are next in action when they host table-toppers AFC Fylde on Saturday.
