City hoping for an impact from new arrival Lemon

Worcester Editorial 20th Dec, 2018   0

WORCESTER City will be looking for goals from new singing James Lemon as they bid to climb up the Midland Premier Division table during a packed festive programme.

Lemon signed from Droitwich Spa FC and returns to the club some five years after he scored on his debut for the Blue & Whites on his 18th birthday in the FA Cup against league rivals Coventry Sphinx.

The hitman has been hitting the back of the net regularly under former City ace Mark Owen with 24 goals in 20 games this campaign

Lemon was not due to link up with the squad until last night’s (Tuesday) League Cup trip to Studley, but took his place in the City line-up for Saturday’s disappointing 1-1 draw with lowly Wolverhampton Community Sporting at the Victoria Ground.

A goal from Jordan Harrison and a glut of goal-scoring chances for City were not enough as the Premier Division basement boys came back into the clash at a freezing Victoria Ground with an equaliser in the closing stages.

The point leaves City in eighth place, 12 points off leaders Ilkeston Town who were thrashed 4-0 at home by Coventry Sphinx on Saturday.

City face a trio of away trips over the festive period with a visit to Loughborough University on Saturday following by a Boxing Day clash at Stourport Swifts before John Snape’s men round off 2018 with a visit to Coventry United on December 29.

Ethan Moran has signed dual registration terms with Malvern Town in a bid for first team action.

Saturday’s clash in the East Midlands kicks off at 3pm.
