Worcester City 1-4 Solihull Moors

Vanarama Conference North

SOLIHULL Moors inflicted just the second home league defeat of Worcester City’s campaign with a resounding 4-1 victory at Aggborough on Tuesday.

Darryl Knight, an Omar Bogle brace and an own goal from Wayne Thomas inflicted the damage for City, who couldn’t muster a comeback following Aaron Brown’s consolation header.

The Moors strengthened their bid for a play-off spot while the defeat sees Worcester slide down to 11th, now seven points off a top five place.

After a positive start from the Blue and Whites, it was the visitors who struck first when Knight fired a loose ball into the right-hand corner past Ryan Boot, the first goal he has conceded since returning to the club on loan.

And just three minutes later Bogle played a neat one-two with Stefan Moore and finished well to put Solihull in control before the break.

Worcester came out with renewed optimism in the second period as Tristan Dunkley’s dangerous effort went just past the far post.

But once again Carl Heeley’s side had their good work undone when veteran defender Thomas headed into his own net after 66 minutes.

There was a brief sense of hope around Aggborough when substitute Brown, formerly of the Midlanders, headed home from Daniel Nti’s cross.

However the game was put to bed with just minutes remaining when Bogle’s deflected free-kick found the back of the net, marking an end to a miserable end for the hosts.
