Bryce 'hungry' for more wins

WARRIORS winger Bryce Heem said he is ‘hungry’ for more victories and believes if his side put in a solid performance for the full 80 minutes they’ll win regularly.

The 27-year-old New Zealander has been ‘frustrated’ and ‘disappointed’ with Warriors’ season so far after coming close to success in many games, but only coming away with three Premiership wins.

But the explosive 6ft 4in Kiwi believes after recently tasting victory over Sale Sharks, his team are capable of making Sixways a fortress entering the tail end of the campaign.

“Personally I’ve been quite happy with the way I’ve been playing this season. I was brought over here to make an impact on the wing and carry hard,” said Heem.

“I feel settled in the UK now. I went back home to New Zealand in January to get married and my wife has come over here now too. Everyone at the club has really helped us settle in Worcester and made us feel at home.

“But looking at the season as a whole it’s been frustrating, especially with some of the losses we’ve had because we’ve got a team that’s capable of winning regularly. We’ve shown that in glimpses this campaign but ultimately it comes down to putting in a performance for the full 80 minutes.

“After the recent win over Sharks you could see the whole morale across the squad was lifted. That feeling hadn’t been around for a while so to remember what it feels like to win will hopefully drive our desire to finish games off that much more.

“The guys are all hungry for more wins and that will fuel us to perform. We’ll keep trying our hardest to put things right and we have a good system in place to help us achieve it,” he added.

The former Chiefs, Auckland and Cambridge Blues player was shocked at the impact he had in his first month at Sixways, having scored a try on his debut in the win against Newcastle Falcons and scooping the Franco Florenzi November Player of the Month Award.

“I try and take every game as it comes and perform my best but I felt the pressure when I arrived here and I felt I had to deliver, so it was a great feeling to score on my debut and pick up the award in my first month.

“That first game against Newcastle has been my highlight at the club so. To pick up the win and score in your first game, there’s not much better feeling. Playing at Twickenham was special as well.”
