Betty aiming to end on high

WARRIORS back row Sam Betty insists he is 100 per cent fit after returning to action following a head injury he picked up in January.

The Worcester star suffered a concussion in the match against Wasps and only returned to the field in the recent win over Newcastle Falcons, where the dynamic flanker played the whole of the second half.

The 29-year-old is determined to contribute as much as he can for the club and wants to see the campaign out on a ‘positive note’.

“I’ve had a bit of an up and down season so far but I’m enjoying it,” said Betty.

“We had a good start with a couple of wins but then we had the unfortunate run of defeats which I found tough, but the recent win against Sale has made all the difference. I believe we’re in a really good place at this moment in time.

“It was good to return to action up in Newcastle and I managed to play 40 minutes which I’m happy with. I was slightly derailed after picking up that head injury against Wasps, but I’m back to full fitness now and looking forward to contributing as much as I can for the remainder of the season.

“I think the Newcastle game has to be the highlight of the season so far for me as it was our first away win of the campaign which was great, but also because of the atmosphere due to the importance of the match.

“I think if we get another couple of wins we’ll keep climbing the table and end on a positive note.”

Betty, last year’s Supporters Player of the Season’ and ‘True Warrior of the Season, is also enjoying his role of Acorns Player Ambassador, where he gets to play a major role in the community.

“As the charity’s player ambassador, I visit the children’s hospice every fortnight with a few other players to take part in activities with the kids,” he added.

“It’s a pretty cool place to go and I’m really proud we can help out.”
