Arr: I can't wait for the new season

WARRIORS scrum-half Jonny Arr admits he is not far from full fitness and is looking forward to returning to action in pre-season.

The Worcester-born player, who missed the second half of Warriors’ 2015/16 campaign due to a knee injury he picked up the club’s 24-20 defeat to Harlequins in January, said he has enjoyed slowly getting back involved with the squad after undergoing a knee operation.

The former Royal Grammar School student, who has played more matches for his hometown club than any other current player, has also praised the medical staff and his fellow teammates for the support he has received on the road to recovery.

“When the injury happened I knew something wasn’t right. It was a strange one as I didn’t initially think it was anything too serious. It was only until afterwards when I had scans I realised what I’d done,” said the 27-year-old.

“Up until the injury I’d been pretty fortunate in my playing career. This was the first really big injury so it was all pretty new to me.

“I just left it in the hands of the medical staff and had the operation.

“It’s just one of those things you have to take on the chain and get on with. I had the operation on a Friday and was back into work on the Monday, so I could get involved with the team as much as I could.

“It’s never nice to be injured but the support I’ve had from the staff and players has been great. Everyone does their bit to keep you involved.

“I’m not far off from being fully fit. I’m in the early days of getting back into on field running, so I can get my knee as strong as possible.

“The target now is to get a good pre-season under my belt so I’m prepared for the new campaign,” he added.
