Annett: We will learn from Exeter

WARRIORS hooker Niall Annett says the team ‘must keep learning’ after their ‘frustrating’ defeat to Exeter Chiefs.

The 24-year-old, who has recently signed a new contract with the club, played the full 80 minutes of Worcester’s clash with the Chiefs on Sunday (January 31), and has played a big role in the squad over the past 18 months since joining from Ulster in 2014.

The talented forward said his team-mates gave their all against the Chiefs, and will continue to work as ‘hard as possible’ to keep sporting the Worcester jersey.

“I thought it was a fairly tight game between two good teams, so we’re frustrated it got away from us in the second half,” said Annett.

“But frustration can lead to negativity and there’s definitely no negativity in the camp. There’s no feeling of a downward spiral and we’re positive going into every week.

“We all worked very hard for each other and I think that came across in the performance.

“Exeter didn’t surprise us as we had two to three weeks to look at these groups of games. We knew they would come with good tempo and a good width to their game.”

Warriors’ attention will now turn to the match against London Irish on Sunday.

“We’ve got to keep learning from these experiences as we’ve got nine weeks of rugby left, so there’s no point in beating ourselves up,” said Annett. “We’ve just got to be clever about how we approach them.

“The London Irish game is different to no other, we’ve just got to go out their and try and get a result,” he added.
