Andoh is on board to bolster City

Worcester Editorial 16th Feb, 2019   0

PACY Levi Andoh has become the latest Worcester City new recruit as the Blue & Whites seek to recover from two defeats in 48 hours over the weekend.

The 22-year-old versatile defender or midfielder has joined City from Cradley Town FC and Thompson Rivers University in Canada.

Andoh was previously with Cradley Town last season and made a single appearance for them on the opening day of this season where he picked up a man of the match vote. He left the UK to play for Thompson Rivers University in September but returned just before Christmas.

The player has been registered but, due to his last club being in Canada, City chiefs have had to submit international clearance with the Canadian FA. This was submitted on January 22 and City are still awaiting news from the football bosses.

If no news is heard from the Canadian FA within 30 days, the English FA will issue the club with provisional clearance, meaning Andoh will be available for City’s next game when Long Eaton United are the visitors to the Victoria Ground on Saturday, February 23.

City were on the wrong end of a seven-goal thriller as they fell to a 4-3 defeat to Loughborough University on Saturday before exiting the Midland Football League Cup with a 7-6 penalty shoot-out reverse at Romulus.

An early effort from Ethan Moran put City in front in the East Midlands but John Snape’s men found themselves trailing 2-1 at the break as Dan Hanson and Ben Last replied for the Scholars just before half-time.

Further goals from Dan Collins and Matty Crookes followed before substitutions and a change in formation gave City a final boost but goals from James Lemon and George Forsyth were not enough to stave off defeat.

A James Lemon goal five minutes from time in Monday’s visit to Romulus took City to extra-time and penalties but Luke English missed in sudden-death and Theo Lllewellyn made no mistake to send the home side into the semi-finals.
