Adams commits future to Warriors

Worcester Editorial 2nd Nov, 2016   0

ACADEMY winger Josh Adams has signed a professional first-team contract with Warriors, after only having featured six times for the club.

The 21-year-old, who joined Warriors’ academy from Llanelli Scarlets in 2015, was handed his first-team debut in September after coming off the bench against Bath in the Aviva Premiership.

The pacey Welshman, who has enjoyed stints with Cinderford RFC and Nottingham Rugby, went on to score his maiden try for the club against Enisei-STM in the European Challenge Cup.

Adams also starred in the 2015 World Rugby Under 20 Championship, where he bagged four tries in five games for Wales.

Adams said: “It’s been an unexpected start to the season, but it’s been amazing to get my first taste of Premiership rugby.

“Worcester is certainly a place I feel that, as a young player, I have everything I need to push on and be the best I can be.”

Head coach Carl Hogg said: “We’re delighted Josh has committed his future to the club after really putting his hand up in the early stages of this season.

“We’ve been resourceful in our recruitment strategy by identifying young players from elsewhere, so they can utilise the infrastructure at Sixways to excel as a player.

“The likes of Nick Schonert, Dean Hammond and Perry Humphreys have done that in recent seasons and Josh is another fine example of a player who has travelled down this route.

“He has certainly taken his game to the next level after having broke into the first-team and we look forward to working with him over the coming seasons.”
