Magnificent MOTHS bring sea of colour to city

Worcester Editorial 24th Feb, 2014 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

A DAZZLING sea of colour washed through the city centre at the weekend as the city’s museums were brought to life.

Saturday’s (February 22) Magnificent MOTHS Parade saw stunning performances including live bands, carnival dancers, outdoor theatre and dance all inspired by Museums Worcestershire collections, buildings and exhibitions.

The parade also welcomed back Victorian explorer and collector, Winnie Bird, aboard her travellator with her Magnificent Giant Moths, who first appeared in the city’s Victorian Christmas Fayre.

The event was the culmination of the Museums on the High Street project organised by Museums Worcestershire and Imagineer Productions.

A selection of Carnival costumes are set to go on show at the Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum tomorrow (Tuesday) while a selection of winged carnival costumes will also be on display at The Commandery bringing to life the story of the butterflies which are said to appear in the Minstrels Gallery.

The exhibitions will run until April.
