Award-winning 'best cafe in Worcester' announces closure

‘HEARTBROKEN’ staff at an award-winning Worcester cafe in a historic Grade II listed building has announced it has been forced to close.

G&Tea on Friar Street announced it will be shutting its doors to customers for the final time on Saturday, May 11.

A statement, released on their social media pages on Tuesday, said despite battling on for a while, owners were unable to ‘weather the storm’ faced by ‘so many other small businesses’ any further.

G&Tea was named the ‘best cafe in Worcester’ last year by resturant guru and offers award-winning afternoon tea, coffee, sandwiches, cakes, scones, and a breakfast and lunch menu.

The statement added: “We’ve had an incredible run and it has been an honour and a privilege to be able to serve such wonderful people over the years.

“This is heartbreaking for us, as I’m sure it will be for many of our loyal customers.

“Please do come see us before we close and say goodbye.

“Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to everyone who has supported us over the years- we wouldn’t have made it this far without you.”
