Youngsters to get creative at the Worcester Show

Worcester Editorial 22nd Jul, 2017   0

YOUNGSTERS are being urged to show off their creative talents at this year’s Worcester Show.

There will be more than 120 competition classes to enter at the popular event which takes place on Gheluvelt Park on Sunday, August 13.

A number of creative classes for all ages will be taking place including making a space alien from play doh or modelling clay; creating a picture or collage of your favourite season; making a miniature fairy doorway and garden; building a spaceship from recyclable objects and making a sea creature out of fruit or vegetables.

Other classes range from growing giant vegetables to displaying flowers and floral decorations, creating handicrafts and photography, baking and modelling.

There are now Under 18’s categories for every class, and a new Under 18’s Trophy will be awarded for the most points overall in these classes.

Worcester Cactus Society is also offering free membership to everyone who enters the Under 18’s class in Cacti & Succulents.

Gerry Leith, Worcester Show Chairman, said: “It’s a great opportunity to encourage children to take a break from high tech gadgets.

“We’ve come up with several new classes for under 18s this year – children and young people will really love creating something from scratch and showing it off to others at this year’s Worcester Show.”

Visit www.worcestershow.org.uk to enter a class which is free. The deadline for applications is Monday, August 7.
