BUDDING Julia Donaldsons are invited to a Writer’s Day at The Hive in Worcester.

This year’s event is shining a spotlight on Writing for Children and Young Adults.

Taking place on June 20 from 9.30am to 3.30pm, it will bring together leading voices from across the world of children’s literature, covering everything from crafting stories to creating the imagery on the page.

Experts from the University of Worcester will join respected figures from the world of publishing for a day of talks, panel discussion and networking.

There’ll also be the chance for local people who have already published books aimed at young people to showcase what they’ve written in a special Marketplace event during the day.

Jean Webb, Professor of International Children’s Literature at the University of Worcester will be giving a talk exploring the enduring legacy of Winnie-the-Pooh during her lecture.

Also appearing will be University of Worcester graduate and children’s book illustrator Jess Mason.

Vega Minton, events coordinator at The Hive, said: “Writer’s Day is for anyone with an interest in stories, whether they’re working on their first novel, designing an eye-catching graphic novel, or just figuring out how to get started on their own unique idea for a picture book.

“Everyone is welcome to attend. The sessions will be very relaxed and supportive so no-one will feel out of their depth.”

Writers’ Day at The Hive has become a key fixture in the library’s calendar, giving the community’s budding authors the chance to explore their writing.
