WORCESTER’S racecourse ladies day was a sell-out with seven races.
The event saw over 9,000 people attend with Planet ABBA playing after – it also marked the opening of the new weighing room facility and first fixture of the year.
Jennifer Gilks from Tamworth won £500 in the style awards competition, who wore a fantastic dress from local independent designer Rebecca Rhodes.
There was severe flooding at the start of the season, forcing the first three fixtures to be transferred to Hereford.
Michael Thomas, general manager of Worcester Racecourse said: “It was amazing to see a sell-out crowd on Saturday, and great to see everyone enjoying the racing and, of course, Planet ABBA after racing.
“We had a difficult start to the season with the racecourse flooding 6 times in 6 months, we had to move our first three fixtures in May to our sister course at Hereford.
“This has allowed us time to fully recover from the impact of the flooding and it was all systems go for our Ladies Day. It was great to see everyone’s hard work pay off.”
Worcester Racecourse have 16 more fixtures during the 2024 season.
There are also feature fixtures including Country Racenight, Rum & Reggae and Dinosaur Family Fun Day.
