Worcester Uni's female cricketers stand up against racism

FEMALE cricketer’s at Worcester University are aiming to hit sexism for six.

The Women’s Cricket Team has joined forces with a national campaign to fight sexism in the world of sport.

They’ve partnered with Her Game Too, which aims to create inclusive environments for players while raising awareness of women’s voices within sports.

The partnership enables the team to promote gender equality, enhance inclusivity, and create a safe and welcoming environment for female players and fans.

Holly Neal, chair of Women’s Cricket at the university, said: “Her Game Too is an incredible initiative, and this partnership reflects the values of the University of Worcester’s Women’s Cricket.

“We want to show girls of all abilities that cricket is a safe sport to come and have fun and develop skills without judgement of any sort. The whole society is like a massive family which looks out for each other.

“We look forward to the publicity that this partnership can bring to the University of Worcester and demonstrating to girls why Worcester is the best university choice – especially for cricket.”

Charlotte Beaman-Evans, senior lecturer in physical education, and sport lead for the university, continued: “We are immensely proud of our women’s cricket team for establishing this partnership with the Her Game Too Campaign.

“The partnership is of paramount importance to the University of Worcester, as it addresses critical issues that can often act as barriers to female participation in sports, potentially leading to people not engaging.”

Head of cricket at Her Game Too, Paige Caunce, added: “Her Game Too Cricket are delighted to have brought the University of Worcester Women’s Cricket Club on board with the campaign.

“We have enjoyed multiple positive discussions with the team, as well as others at the university, and have been thrilled by their proactive approach in getting the partnership off the ground and for playing their part in making cricket a more inclusive sport for all.

“The team at Her Game Too Cricket are excited by the future possibilities of the partnership and are incredibly grateful to the university for their support.”
