ART lovers will have to trust their instincts at a unique exhibition by University of Worcester students.
Postcard-sized artworks will be auctioned anonymously. Buyers won’t know the artist’s name until after the sale.
The event, developed in partnership with Noble & Common Gallery, aims to support the students’ end-of-year Degree Show, where students showcase their major projects to family, friends, and the public.
Proceeds will also go to local charity Maggs Day Centre.
Dozens of unique A6 artworks, each created by a student, member of staff, or guest artist, have been produced, and every piece will be sold at an auction at the Art House on Thursday December 11 from 6.45pm to 8pm.
Buyers will only discover the artist’s name after purchase, encouraging people to choose based on creativity and instinct rather than reputation.
The event will showcase a wide range of disciplines, from painting and drawing, to printmaking, collage and photography.
Fine art student Ashley Gregory said: “It’s a great opportunity for students. Not only does it allow us to gain experience of having work exhibited and sold, which some may not have had, but it also serves as a great platform for making connections and networking with the community and potential clients.”
Nat Pitt, lecturer in fine art and project co-ordinator, added: “This project gives students the chance to experience the full process of producing, curating, and marketing an exhibition.
“It’s not only a fantastic fundraiser for the Degree Show, but it’s also a real opportunity to develop professional skills and connections.”
