Worcester schools affected by strike action

Worcester Editorial 5th Jul, 2016 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

THREE schools in Worcester have been affected by strike action today (Tuesday) as teachers walk out over school funding.

The one-day strike is causing disruption for pupils and parents across the city, with St Clement’s CE Primary School closed, apart from the pre-school.

There is a partial closure at Regency High School. And the Riversides School’s senior site is closed, but the lower school on Thorneloe Road is open as usual.

The National Union of Teachers is holding the one-day strike as they say school budgets are not keeping pace with rising costs.

However the Education Secretary Nicky Morgan has called the strikes “unnecessary” and “harmful”.
