Worcester tug of war team looking for new venue

WORCESTER Themmadi, a self-funded community tug of war team, is urgently seeking a new place to train after their practice equipment was unexpectedly removed last week.

The team, which has achieved significant success, including winning the UK championships last year and placing second in a Chicago tournament, is now facing a critical challenge ahead of their busy competition season.

Team manager Jose Mathai said: “We compete most weekends from June to September and need to practice on weekday evenings because of our work shifts.

“Without our training equipment, our chances of success in upcoming competitions are severely compromised.”

The team has been collaborating with Worcester City Council to design and install a purpose-built training rig at a local sports centre.

However, the project requires substantial funding and planning permission, which will take time.

In the mean time, Worcester Themmadi urgently needs a temporary training site, ideally in or near Worcester.

They are appealing to the community for assistance, whether it be a farm, sports area, local business car park, or works yard.

If you can help, or know of a suitable location, please contact Worcester Themmadi via email at [email protected] or message them on Facebook at Worcester Themmadi Facebook Page.
