A WORCESTER care home has geared up for Olympic-Inspired sports day and 10th anniversary celebration.

On Wednesday, July 24, Care UK’s Perry Manor on Charles Hastings Way will bring a taste of Paris to Worcester, inviting local residents to take part in a unique version of the Games and celebrate the home’s 10th birthday.

This event is part of The Big Care UK Sports Day, a nationwide scheme where over 130 Care UK homes host sports days for their local communities, offering a glimpse into life in a care home.

Guests at Perry Manor will be immersed in a vibrant sporting atmosphere and can compete in classic events such as the egg-and-spoon race, three-legged race, and torch relay, with the chance to win gold medals.

In addition to the athletic activities, visitors can enjoy an Olympic-themed buffet prepared by the home’s head chef and live entertainment from performer Ruby.

Katherine Matthews, Home Manager at Perry Manor, said: “The Olympics has brought about a fantastic opportunity to rediscover residents’ own sporting history and passion – and we’re keen to share this sporting fever with the local community and to celebrate an incredible 10 years.

“At Perry Manor, we encourage residents to live fulfilling lives through regular activities that improve their physical and mental wellbeing, which is why we can’t wait to host our very own sports day.

“We have some very competitive residents here, and I’m sure there will be quite a few close calls in the hunt for medals. We’re looking forward to crowning the winners this July and marking a decade of being open in true Perry Manor fashion.”
