Worcester-based childhood cancer charity raises £12k from 'treecycle'

CHARITY chiefs at the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust have wrapped up their fourth treecycle, their biggest yet.

The annual fund-raising campaign helps the trust fund practical, financial, and emotional support for families affected by childhood cancer.

Donations from 685 residents across Worcestershire and Herefordshire enabled the great Christmas tree collection.

A team of 22 local businesses and volunteers swooped into action across three days to assist with the treecycle. There was even an appearance from the Christmas Grinch.

The Marquee Company of Worcestershire provided vans and collectors for all three pick-up days.

Charity bosses have revealed the collections have raised more than £12,000, which exceeds last year’s total.

Coralie Hudson, campaign manager and community and corporate fund-raiser said:

“We are just so thrilled with the success of this year’s treecycle.

“The support of the local community is incredibly loyal and generous. There has been a ‘treemendous’ contribution and effort from all our partners and volunteers too.”

The charity thanked around 40 individual volunteers and businesses without whom the collections would not have been possible.

The trust is already thinking ahead to next year’s treecycle with bookings opening in October for early birds.
