Worcester in Wonderland as Kays take on Alice show opens

Worcester Editorial 20th Jan, 2023   0

A FUND-RAISING effort to support local Admiral Nurses will be at the heart of this year’s Kays Panto.

Opening this week at the Swan Theatre until January 29, Alice in Wonderland is Kays’ 68th production, especially adapted for Kays by Anthony Stuart-Hicks from the original by Lewis Carroll.

This panto has all your favourites, from Alice to the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts and with characters to enjoy the famous Tea Party plus a Bake-Off Tent

Debut director Rebekah Bott had no hesitation in nominating the Hereford and Worcester Health and Care NHS Trust Admiral Nurse service as this year’s chosen charity.

“When my grandfather was poorly and the family coping with his increasing dementia, the local Admiral Nurses were so supportive of our family, and Grampy, giving personal care and compassion in the home. I can’t thank them enough,” she said.

Admiral Nurses are registered nurses who specialise in dementia, giving practical and emotional support to family carers, alongside the person with dementia.

They offer a support to families throughout their experience of dementia using interventions tailored to each family’s individual needs.

Admiral Nurses are supported professionally by the charity DementiaUK, who work in partnership with Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust.
