Worcester councillor's Christmas tree is particularly green

AN ECO-conscious Worcester councillor’s Christmas tree is looking particularly green.

Worcester City Councillor Jessie Jagger and her husband Paul have once again rented a living Christmas tree, which is now taking pride of place in their home – bringing festive cheer and sustainability together once again.

The couple, who have been renting living trees as part of their commitment to greener celebrations, were especially pleased with this year’s choice.

Paul said “The tree has arrived, and it’s cool. I was a little sceptical at first about living trees, as I’ve always liked the idea of a perfectly symmetrical, picture-perfect tree and didn’t think I could get that with a living tree. But this one looks fantastic—it’s pretty, full of character, and feels even more special knowing it will go on to grow and thrive after Christmas.”

Jessie continued: “There’s a lot of pressure for trees to meet a certain ‘perfect’ standard, but that leads to so much waste. For every ideal tree, many others are discarded unnecessarily. Choosing a living tree allows us to enjoy a lovely, natural tree without adding to that problem.”

The tree, delivered directly to the family’s doorstep, will stay in the Jaggers’ home over the festive season before being returned to the rental company, where it will be replanted and nurtured for use in future years.

Paul also praised the ease of the process.

He added: “The delivery guy was brilliant—he brought the tree right into the house, which was a huge help as Jessie’s far too pregnant to manage it this year. It couldn’t have been simpler, and we’re so happy with the result.”
