A WORCESTER care home is celebrating after its deputy manager scooped a special accolade at a county-wide awards ceremony.
Kat Evans from Care UK’s Perry Manor on Charles Hastings Way was named winner of the ‘Care Home Worker Award’ in the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards 2023.
The honours aim to shine a light on the health and social care workers in Worcestershire who go the extra mile. This award recognises the contribution of an individual who strives to improve the sector by developing ways to enhance care.
Beginning her career at Perry Manor as a night-time carer in 2016, Kat has worked up way up through the ranks.
After completing the Emerging Deputies course, she became the deputy manager in 2021.
Kat is responsible for creating multiple internal processes that are bespoke to the home.
Sharing her findings with the team, Kat holds regular forums and team meetings and her whole home approach has resulted in a considerable decrease in infections among residents at the home in the past six months.
Kat said: “I am completely overwhelmed at having won the ‘Care Home Worker Award’ in the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards 2023 and I am so proud of the team’s efforts here at Perry Manor”.
Katherine Matthews, home manager at Perry Manor, said: “We’re thrilled Kat has been named winner for the ‘Care Home Worker’ category at this year’s Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards – it’s a true testament to her tireless dedication to delivering the highest quality of care.
“Kat is incredible at her job and works hard to support residents to lead fulfilling lives through compassionate, person-centered care.
“Constantly looking into ways to improve the lives of residents, Kat inspires those around her and her love for the job shines through everything she does.
