Worcester care home helped a resident and former florist rekindle

STAFF at a Worcester care home helped a resident and former florist rekindle some old memories by organising a flower-arranging session for her, writes Surinder Uppal.

Thanks to the team at The Belmont care home, Ann was able to create flower displays with help from staff and he daughter

They brought out equipment she still had in her room and a selection of flowers to inspire her and Ann reconnected with this cherished hobby to create three floral displays.

The arrangements were met with positive reactions from residents and staff.

Carla Sidaway, The Belmont’s customer relations manager, said: “Ann was so proud of her work, and it was a heartwarming experience for all of us.”

Steph Howard, The Belmont’s home manager, added: “It’s moments like these that remind us of the difference we can make in our residents’ lives, and seeing the happiness her work brought to everyone was truly special.”

Ann and her daughter Nicky also felt immense pride for being able to share this moment with everyone.

Nicky said: “I’m so grateful to see her self-confidence and self-worth shine again.”

Ann said: “The reaction from everyone has been lovely. Thank you for making such a big thing of this. I really enjoyed it.”

The Belmont care home has plans to have more flower arranging activities for Ann in the near future.
