Woman rescued after first floor flat fire

Worcester Editorial 20th Jun, 2017   0

A WOMAN was treated for smoke inhalation following a fire in a flat on Portland Street in the early hours of this morning.

Fire crews from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFRS) were called to the blaze in the first floor flat at 3.38am.

The woman was rescued from the property and police also evacuated other residents to allow firefighters to tackle the blaze.

No further injuries have been reported and fire chiefs confirmed the flat had working smoke alarms which quickly raised the alarm.

Whilst the fire caused a significant amount of damage, it was confined to the flat itself and other residents have now been allowed to return to their homes.

Fire crews have returned to the scene this morning to continue their investigation into the cause of the fire and speak to local residents.
