Wolves Academy set to net a new kit

A CITY basketball team is set to invest in a new kit after being backed with a grand donation from a regional housebuilder.

Worcester Wolves Basketball Academy received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes South Midlands after being named as one of its Community Champions winners. Every month, two groups are chosen to receive a match-funded donation of up to £1,000 each.

The club has more than 100 members ranging from ages seven to 23. The funding will go towards providing all members with a reversible training top which will give each player their own identity.

Emma Jane Gardner, spokesperson for Worcester Wolves Basketball Academy, said: “As a club run totally by volunteers on a not-for-profit basis, we work hard to fundraise for our members.

“We are delighted Persimmon Homes South Midlands has chosen us to benefit from the Community Champions scheme.”

Amanda Rogers, head of sales at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, said: “We are pleased we have been able to support Worcester Wolves Basketball Academy.

“If people were unsuccessful in their Community Champions application, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next recipient.”
