Why the Players will be 'Groping for Words' at the Swan this spring

ST JOHN’S Players will perform ‘Groping For Words’ this spring at the Swan Theatre

The play, by Adrian Mole author Sue Townsend, takes a sometimes unflinching look at the lives, insecurities and aspirations of an adult literacy class in 1980s Clapham.

Alternately touching and hilarious, it promises to be a memorable evening of story-telling for Worcester audiences.

St John’s Players have been a regular feature of the Worcester amateur theatre scene for more than 70 years.

They have performed in venues of all shapes and sizes and aspire to a professional standard. Recent hits include a riotous adaptation of “The 39 Steps”, iconic 1970s satire “Abigail’s Party” and romantic comedy “Duets”.

A spokesperson said: “We’re quite emotionally invested in their journeys. It’s a cracking script that really has you rooting for the underdog.

Groping for Words by Sue Townsend is on at the Vesta Tilley Studio from March 30 to April 2.

Tickets are £12 and are on sale now from worcestertheatres.co.uk or 01905 611 427.
