Volunteer, make missions possible and save lives

DURING Volunteers’ Week 2021 Midlands Air Ambulance Charity is thanking its family of volunteers and encourage new recruits to get involved with its lifesaving work as part of National Volunteers’ Week celebrations.

The charity, which turned 30 years old in May, is already planning further anniversary celebrations for its supportive family of more than 220 volunteers and supporters. Volunteers’ Week, which runs until Monday (June 7), is a special time where the charity shows its thanks to the those that donate their time for free to support its lifesaving work across the Midlands.

The charity relies on donations from the six regional communities it serves, including Herefordshire and Worcestershire, to fund its daily lifesaving operations. However, the organisation also depends on its dedicated family of volunteers to assist with Covid-safe fundraising activities, ranging from hosting events and supporting in the charity shops to attending networking sessions, providing talks and receiving cheques at presentations.

Due to restrictions resulting from the previous year’s continuing pandemic, the typical ways people usually support the charity with became temporarily unavailable. Now that restrictions have eased, volunteering in the charity’s shops has safely recommenced, however some supporters may prefer to volunteer from home, with the charity’s craft club by learning new or improving existing crafting skills and selling their creations to raise much needed funds for the lifesaving charity.
