Uncertain future for firm hit by raiders

Worcester Editorial 25th Feb, 2017   0

DEVASTATED owners of a Worcester outdoor events company have admitted the company could face an uncertain future after thieves stole essential equipment.

Pulse Pursuits’ Top Barn Activity Centre in Holt Heath was burgled last Monday (February 13) in a raid which saw thieves steal a trailer full of equipment.

As a result, owners Mark Leyland and Roger Cook say they may be forced to axe a number of events for a number of local good causes.

The raid has come as a shock to the pair who only established Pulse Pursuits nine months ago and have already organised running, cycling and paddle spring events across the Midlands.

Among the items taken include a 14ft Ifor Williams trailer loaded with aluminium bike racking bars which are used by triathlon competitors to hold their bikes during the transition between running and cycling.

The equipment was on loan from Worcester Triathlon Club and Mr Cook said the business has now been left in ‘jeopardy’ as a result of the burglary.

“This is a devastating blow for the business,” he said.

“We’ve worked so hard to build our reputation and our plans were really starting to take shape.

“Without the equipment we may have to cancel a number of forthcoming events. Not only will this be a huge let down for our charity partners, but its put our entire business at risk.”

Mr Leyland added: “If we don’t recover the equipment we have a very grim future.

‘We’re therefore making a desperate plea for the public to keep their eyes and ears open make a report to the police if they spot the equipment on their travels.”

Anyone who has any information on the theft is urged to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 22/CC/12660K/17.

Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
