Two wanted over race hate crimes

AN ASIAN woman who was the victim of a hate crime after being verbally abused by two men in Worcester has been urged to come forward after a passer by reported the incident.

The incident happened at about 4pm last Saturday (May 6) on Byfield Rise when its believed two men shouted racial abuse at the woman who was in her car.

The victim was driving a red Nissan Micra and had stopped at the junction between Tallow Hill and Byfield Rise.

Following that incident, a man in his 30s was also racially abused whilst trying to defend the woman.




The first offender is believed to be a white man, in his late 20s, and 5ft 6ins in height and of a slim build. He was dressed all in black clothing with a black XY baseball cap.

The second offender is described as a white man, in his 30s, 5ft 5 inches in height, of large build with short hair. He was wearing a grey pullover style top with blue jeans.


Both men spoke with a Birmingham accent.

PC Cath Broadfield, from West Mercia Police, said: “Every hate crime is one too many; we want to hear each and every time you are a victim of hate crime.

“Tackling hate crime is one of our key priorities and all reports will be thoroughly investigated and support offered to victims.

“The witness who sadly also received racial abuse did exactly the right thing in reporting this incident to police and I would urge the other victim to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 456s of 6 May.”
