Two arrested as illegal zombie knives and drugs seized in Warndon

Worcester Editorial 3rd Oct, 2024   0

TWO people in Warndon were among the first to be arrested in the UK under new zombie knife legislation this morning (Thursday, October 3).

A 26 year-old-man and a 17-year-old-boy were both arrested at an address on Ennerdale Close in Warndon, Worcester.

The pair remain in custody after being apprehended on suspicion of possession of controlled Class A drugs with intent to supply and possessing or distributing prohibited weapons or ammunition.

During the warrant around 20 wraps believed to be Class A crack cocaine and heroin were found, along with a large quantity of weapons including zombie knives and machetes.

DC Bethany Austin said “These two people are amongst the first people to be arrested since the legislation was brought in at the beginning of last week.

“We are proactively taking action to remove dangerous weapons like these from our communities, and reduce the tragic consequences from both knife crime and drug offences.”

Both suspects are currently in custody whilst enquiries continue.

Following a change to the Criminal Justice Act 1988, it became illegal to be in possession of a ‘zombie style’ knife and machete on September 24. It is also against the law to manufacture, import, sell or supply these items.
