In tune for male voice choirs

MORE than 200 people attended the English Association of Male Voice Choirs’ annual concert in Worcester Cathedral.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Worcester, Coun Paul Denham and Mayoress Coun Lynne Denham, as well as Lord Digby Jones, who ensured the evening ran smoothly.

Raising £3,500 each for St Richard’s Hospice and Acorns Children’s Hospice, the concert began with the Birmingham Horn Sound, who played Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck, Titanic Fantasy by James Horner, La Danza by Rossini and a selection from Der Freischutz.

The massed choir then sang a wide range of songs, varying from popular pieces such as Yesterday and Sailing, to more powerful pieces including American Trilogy and African Prayer.
