A WORCESTER man from the Armed Forces was invited to this year’s BRIT Awards through the charity Tickets For Troops.
Currently based at Denison Barracks in Hermitage, WO1 Andrew Murray, from Worcester, was one of 100 service personnel who attended The BRIT Awards 2016 at the O2 in London to watch such stars as Coldplay, Adele and Justin Bieber.
Set up in 2009, Tickets For Troops has provided free tickets to the Armed Forces for sports, music, theatre, cultural and entertainment events across the UK, having distributed more than 830,000 free tickets in the last six years.
WO1 Murray, who has been serving with the British Army for 26 years, was extremely excited to be given the opportunity to attend such a prestigious event along with his wife. He said: “It shows great recognition of the Armed Forces. It is fantastic to see that we are still at the forefront of people’s minds and that the work we do is recognised whether we are at home or away.”
Veronica Bamford, director of operations at Tickets For Troops said: “Once again the organisers behind The BRIT Awards have pulled out all the stops for our fantastic servicemen and women.
“They are an organisation who proudly stand alongside us to recognise the incredible work our troops do for our country.”
Tickets are available for current serving members of the Armed Forces and those who have been medically discharged since 2001.
