A WORCESTER-based business which has just marked its 40th year in the UK is helping a local hospice celebrate forty years in 2024.

Global manufacturing company, Southco Manufacturing Ltd, has signed-up to sponsor a sculpture for the great Waddle of Worcester art trail – which will take the city by storm for eight weeks from July 22, 2024.

The company, which also supported the Worcester Stands Tall and Worcester’s Big Parade art trails in 2018 and 2021, will sponsor one of 40 large penguins in the Wild in Art showcase, being brought to city by St Richard’s Hospice.

Philip Kempson, managing director at Southco Manufacturing Ltd, said: “We’ve loved being part of the last two trails in the city and the team here is looking forward to seeing penguins on parade in 2024.

“It’s also a brilliant opportunity to give something back and support the amazing care that St Richard’s provides in its fortieth birthday year. Having just marked the same milestone of forty years here in Worcester, it’s something the whole hospice team can be proud of.”

SE Davis and Son Ltd, proud owners of ‘Lucy Lavender’ the elephant, is joining the great Waddle of Worcester by sponsoring an adult and a baby penguin.

Two of 80 sculptures which will brighten city streets and public spaces, the large penguins will later be sold at auction to raise funds for St Richard’s Hospice.

The Astwood Bank-based company’s penguin chick will be designed and decorated by children from a local primary school.

Sue Davis, director of SE Davis and Son Ltd, said: “Family is at the heart of everything we do here so we’re excited to be playing a part in an event which will bring smiles to so many.

“We loved the giraffes in 2018 and were lucky to secure an elephant at auction in 2021, which sits proudly in our offices. Becoming a sponsor this year is another way for us to support the hospice and the amazing care the team provides to local people.”

Linbury Doctors also sponsoring the great Waddle of Worcester.

Dr Lucy Ansell, medical director for Linbury Doctors, said: “Penguins are very family-orientated creatures and here at Linbury Doctors we know there’s nothing more important than your loved ones.”
