Trio charged with attempted murder of police officer remanded

A TRIO charged with the attempted murder of a police officer have been remanded in custody after appearing at Kidderminster Magistrates Court.

Ciaran Irvine, 19, of no fixed abode, Kyle Ryley, 21, of Highlands Road, Hinkley, Leicestershire and 20-year-old Gerard Doherty of Oxford Road in Ryton-on-Dunsmore in Warwickshire have all been charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of a firearm and possession of an offensive weapon.

Ryley has also been charged with dangerous driving and driving whilst disqualified.

The three men appeared in court last Friday (March 13) and didn’t enter a plea. The case will now move to Worcester Crown Court on April 6 for a further hearing.




The Observer reported last week on the incident which took place in Blackpole last Tuesday (March 10).

Armed police evacuated two busy city businesses after a shot was fired at officers who attempted pull over a vehicle which failed to stop.


The dramatic incident also saw the vehicle collide with a number of others on the busy road and metal railings before a search by armed officers of the surrounding area including Lidl and McDonalds.

Police are still urging any witnesses or anyone with any information on the incident which happened at midday on Blackpole Road to call them on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
