PART of Worcester city centre will be closed for tree maintenance next week.
The closure will be in place between Severn Street and the Watergate from College Green from Monday October 28 to Wednesday October 30 between 9.30am and 4.35pm.
The diversion, through Severn Street and Deansway will take walkers and cyclists away from the riverside path.
Worcestershire County Council’s team will be removing one diseased Horse Chestnut tree and pollarding seven historically significant trees.
The pollarding process removes a tree’s entire crown and branches, leaving its main woody structure.
The trees have been managed using the pollarding technique since they were originally planted and need to be maintained in this way every ten to15 years.
Although they will initially look very bare, come next spring the foliage will re-emerge with vigour.
