WORCESTERSHIRE’S Lord-Lieutenant welcomed HRH the Princess Royal to Malvern for a visit to the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) in her capacity as patron of the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureau.

During her visit Princess Anne was shown round the facility by the Chief Executive of Malvern CAB, Annie Robson. She spent time talking to staff and volunteers, hearing about the important work they do as well as joining their morning briefing session.

At the end of the visit, the royal visitor unveiled a plaque commemorating her visit and was presented with a posy by Mrs Robson’s daughter, Rosie, age 9.

Beatrice Grant, Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire said: “It was an absolute delight to welcome HRH The Princess Royal to the county once again.

“Citizens Advice South Worcestershire (Malvern Hills) is such an important charity, supporting over 6,000 local people with essential information, advice and helping them to find a way forward.

“I am so pleased for the Malvern Branch that HRH has been able to visit them and show much support and interest in the work they do.”

Mrs Robson, added: “We were delighted to have welcomed HRH Princess Anne to Malvern Hills Citizens Advice and to be able to showcase the important work that our charity does.

“I am extremely proud and privileged to lead such a dedicated team of staff and volunteers who really care about delivering a high quality advice service to the people in our local communities.

“The cost of living crisis has resulted in a significant increase in demand for our services both in our advice projects and our health related projects and meeting this demand is sometimes challenging.

“But the commitment and passion of our staff and volunteers means that we can do our very best to be there for whoever needs us, whenever they need us. The visit was a real boost for everyone involved and something that I am very pleased to have been able to arrange for our organisation.”

Her Royal Highness was presented to the county’s civic dignitaries, including the chairman of Worcestershire County Council, Coun Kyle Daisley.

Other dignitaries in attendance at the event were; The High Sheriff Louise Hewett, Chairman of Malvern Hills District Council, Coun Barbara Jones-Williams, Malvern’s MP Harriet Baldwin and the Mayor of Malvern Coun Clive Hooper.

Coun Daisley added: “I was privileged to meet HRH The Princess Royal on her visit to Worcestershire.

“It was an honour to represent Worcestershire and I’m so pleased to see Worcestershire on the map showcasing the fantastic work done by the Citizens Advice Bureau. It was great to hear from volunteers from the Citizens Advice Bureau and the life changing work they carry out in supporting residents across our County.”
