YOUNGSTERS from a Worcester school took part in a dance performance in front of hundreds of visitors at a popular theme park.
Students from Bishop Perowne CE College recently took part in a dance performance at Alton Towers, after members of the theme park’s entertainment team visited the school to teach a number of different dance styles, such as jazz and street, to Year 9 and 10 GCSE and BTEC dancers.
The pupils then added in their own choreography to the dance routine, before joining seven other schools to perform to visitors at Alton Towers.
The school also recently held its first ‘Inspiration Week’, where students went off curriculum and took part in a wide range of activities, including trips to see sand sculptures in Weston-super-Mare, historic aircraft at RAF Cosford and famous buildings in Stratford-upon-Avon.
They also tested their bravery at the City’s Vertical Limit rock climbing centre and enjoyed a walk on the Malvern Hills, before the week was rounded off with a school fête.
Mark Pollard, headteacher at Bishop Perowne CE College, said: “We aim to give our students the opportunity to really push themselves and offer experiences that take them out of the classroom to develop their learning.
“Approximately 40 students were involved in the project at Alton Towers and they all gained so much knowledge from the dancers and their performance.”
