Three-legged lurcher Toby is hoping to find his forever home

A THREE-legged greyhound who has been cared for at a foster home in Worcester is hoping to find his forever home.

Toby came into the care of greyhound and lurcher rescue charity, Forever Hounds Trust, earlier this year unable to run around as he does now.

A previous injury to his hind leg left him with a painful and useless limb and it was decided the only course of action was to remove the leg and help Toby live a full and pain free life on three paws.

Volunteers at the charity have been amazed by Toby’s recovery and now hope to find him a home of his own.

Emily Burns-Sweeney, Director of Homing, Kennelling and Welfare at Forever Hounds Trust, said: “Toby is a really lovely lurcher who will make someone a wonderful companion. The loss of his leg hasn’t affected his ability to have lots of fun and he enjoys walks and is good on the lead.

“To our knowledge, his leg had been useless and painful for some time, so he was already used to using just his three good legs to get around anyway, and adapting to life after his operation has been very smooth for him.

“Dogs like Toby are the reason Forever Hounds Trust exists. We are here to help those greyhounds and lurchers that deserve a new life.

“Toby is no longer in pain and it’s a joy to see him happily running about and enjoying a game. We would like nothing more than to see him settled into a home of his own with a family that will love and take care of our ‘Tripaw Toby’.”
