A WORCESTER company waved the flag for International Day Against Homophobia by holding a celebratory day of events.
Employees from npower’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and allies network were out in force to help inspire and educate colleagues in a fun and colourful way.
The event offered interactive games for employees to learn about the colourful LGBT flags and gender expression – how a person outwardly shows their gender identity.
Throughout the day, there was also a raffle and homemade rainbow cakes.
Vicki Evans, customer service advisor at npower, works alongside her 22-year-old son Kieran, who is gay.
“I’ve always been aware of the LGBT+ community and their struggle for equality, but it wasn’t until Kieran came out as gay that I really stepped up my support
Kieran added: “It’s great to work alongside my mum to promote our new LGBT+ network.
“I’m looking forward to growing our network further and working on more events to inform our colleagues about our community.”
