Ten year anniversary for musical theatre company

Rob George 17th Oct, 2021

A POPULAR music extravaganza that has raised more than £100,000 for charity will celebrate 10 years on stage next month.

Worcester Musical Theatre Company is preparing to once again light up the Swan Theatre with a new show called Happy Together, which runs from November 9 to 14.

Having been unable to perform in 2020 due to the pandemic, the show will mark the company’s 10th anniversary performance, having first appeared at the Swan in 2010.

Happy Together showcases music and dance medleys featuring The Beach Boys to The Spice Girls and Freddie Mercury to The Four Tops. Pupils from Claines CE Primary School and Wilden All Saints CE Primary School will also be taking part along with the Harlequin Stage School.

Worcester Musical Theatre Company will be continuing to raise more money for charity by supporting Perdiswell Young People’s Leisure Club and the Royal British Legion, who are marking their centenary year.

Both Saturday performances will also celebrate the lives of much-loved show supporters Fran Fishwick, Steve Cook, Paul Bellamy, Edie Glover, Carole Langford and Doreen Pritchard.

Evening performances from Tuesday to Friday start at 7.30pm, the Saturday matinee at 2pm, Saturday evening at 7pm and Sunday matinee at 4pm. A poppy fall will take place during each show. To have the name of a loved one added to a poppy for the Remembrance Sunday matinee, e-mail

The One Off Performance Society, which is also based in Worcester, will perform an excerpt from Titanic, The Musical during the Saturday shows. The group formed in 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

Show director Val Knight said: “Our cast and crew have been working hard to produce an action packed and fun-filled performance featuring fabulous music, exciting song and dance medleys with comedy and heart-warming moments along the way.

“There is something to delight every family member in this long awaited 10th anniversary show.”
