TONGUE-twisting words were unravelled at a village school as pupils delved into the dictionary to showcase their extensive vocabulary.
Children at Grimley and Holt CE Primary School came in dressed as a word before taking part in a ‘vocabulary parade’ last Wednesday (March 5) as they marked World Book Week in style.
One pupil dressed up as a melon, while carrying a cauliflower to depict the word ‘melancholy’, while another youngster arrived wearing a present costume to illustrate the word ‘gifted’.
Rachael Watkins, teacher and event organiser, said: “Our vocabulary parade today excelled all expectations. Children had explored vocabulary and created fabulous costumes depicting their favourite word.
“We find this day a wonderful way to promote a love of language and enrich their vocabulary.”
